As a provider of care to transgender patients, I read Safer and Tangpricha's (1) article with appreciation and interest. I have provided menopausal hormones for many years before becoming a provider to transgender patients and have been a member of the North American Menopause Society since its inception. As such, I have always followed this organization's evidence-based position statements and treatment guidelines through the years. To my knowledge, the North American Menopause Society has never endorsed injectable estradiol because of the lack of safety data and variable pharmacokinetics, including unequable bioavailability and a notable peak and trough ...
